Your Career Objective
“The Ideal Career”

The Time to Change - Career Objective

Have you defined your career objective?

First, let's define ‘career’.

According to Wiktionary a career is a:

“person’s calling in life; occupation; one's profession; An individual’s work and life roles over their lifespan”.

Yes, "a calling in life". This infers that we have innate talents and gifts we can offer to others in the form of our career. And if we allow it, this calling will draw us to an ideal career. If you believe in The Law of Attraction, then it would make sense that something we are interested in, or are passionate about, increases our energy on some level, bringing us together with activities we resonate with.

If you see your career objective as your life purpose, you will create a career that comes from the heart; one you will love.

We’ve been trained to believe that our career is what we do to earn a living - to pay the bills - but if we didn’t need money to do those things, wouldn’t we still want a career?

The Time to Change - Career Objective As humans, we naturally want to contribute to our community, our tribe, using our talents to help others. Our career objective is one way we can do that. At The Time to Change, we also believe people have a calling but it's camouflaged by misguided belief systems. Once we replace these unhealthy and counter-productive beliefs with healthy, supportive ones, it's much easier to uncover your true calling, your ideal career objective. Beliefs such as: We're not smart enough, good enough, we're too old, too young, too inexperienced etc. have got to transmuted to supportive beliefs. Our coaches will help you identify those limiting beliefs keeping you from realizing your dream career, and life.

This life is for us to explore and learn from. There is nothing that prohibits us from having multiple careers in our lifetime, nothing except YOU!

I've already had five careers, but who's counting?

The career assessments we offer focus on your personality, interests and dislikes, not just on your education and aptitude. We believe that once we find what you are truly interested in, there is a way to create a career with it.

At The Time to Change, we also work with each client to create their 'brand', which will describe who you are when you sell yourself to potential employers or clients. Once you set clear career objectives, change limiting beliefs, and create your brand you will be ready to pursue your dreams.

- We walk with you down the path of self discovery and identification! -

  • Branding - Assess, Modify, Integrate YOUR Beliefs, Values, and Vision
  • Discovery - Identify & Prioritize your areas of interest (activities, tasks, hobbies)
  • Research and Development - Mapping interests to available careers
  • Creation- Creating New Possibilities to Meet a Market DemandPackaging Your New Brand

Career Objective: A Healthy, Fulfilling Career.

The Time to Change

  1. It comes from an area of strong interest or passion. Pursuit of an ideal, vision or area of interest that makes you happy, even after you’ve obtained your goal.
  2. It feeds your mind, body and soul or spirit. For those who do not believe in the soul or spirit, just think of it as feeding your subconscious – that part of you that is behind the scenes.
  3. It resonates with your values? Does it honor your values? Why is this so important?

When we oppose or dishonor our true belief and values, we create internal conflict. The conflict could be very subtle and cause minimal harm OR it could wreak havoc in your life, causing health problems, challenges in everyday life, and even block you from real success.

Sabotaging and Resistance

Besides internal conflict, there are other reasons why you may be experiencing problems with finding or keeping ‘success’ whether it be in a current career, new business or any goal.

It's called sabotage.

This isn’t a popular concept with clients because very few people are aware they are sabotaging a goal when it’s something they want so badly. Why would they?

Most often, we sabotage ourselves out of fear. Fear is the creator of chaos and so prevalent that we often don’t recognize it.

Our counselors can help you convert that fear to energy.
Energy you can use anywhere you want!!

Fear results when our mind is focused on the future, on the unknown. It cannot survive when focused on NOW.

Think about something you’ve been afraid to do. Using public speaking as an example, a common one for many people, think about a time you’ve had to give a speech. If you are not an experienced speaker, you might become nervous days before the event... why? Because you begin to think about the event, about how you’ll do, if you’ll remember the speech, what people will think of you. You can only fear when you think in the future.

Do you recognize some of these thoughts?

  • I don’t have the energy.
  • I might lose my friends.
  • I don’t trust them.
  • I’m not good enough.
  • I might fail.
  • What will they think of me?
  • If I don’t do it they’ll hate me.
  • I’ll ruin my reputation.
  • It's too hard.
  • I’m not smart enough.

The next time you hear yourself saying “No” to an opportunity, any opportunity write down what you were thinking. Not only will that help us, should you come to The Time to Change for help, but it will shake you out of that ‘automatic answer’ mode so you can step back and look at why you responded the way you did. Remember, answers commonly become automatic because of tribal beliefs, beliefs we adopted as children from our parents, friends, teachers or others.

There are many great careers to choose from today but why not create your perfect job? Think of it as creating a new product to sell on the market. Is there a demand for what you would like to do and if not, can you create the demand? Sometimes, employers don’t have the time to recreate positions that would work better then what they currently have, so they don’t. Be their solution !!
